Routine and Emergency Veterinary Care

The RAMB is responsible for all aspects of laboratory animal management and veterinary care of animals used in the NICHD Division of Intramural Research. Investigators and other NICHD personnel requiring veterinary assistance may contact:

Additionally, a list of other ICD veterinarians and their telephone numbers are posted in every animal facility.  They can be contacted in the event of a veterinary emergency if the NICHD veterinarians cannot be reached.

Many of our research animals are maintained in facilities that are not under direct NICHD control.  These animal facilities have assigned Facility Veterinarians to provide the routine and emergency clinical care for the animals housed within.  These veterinarians are generally your direct point of contact for veterinary care of your research animals.  However, this does not preclude your calling an NICHD veterinarian for consultation, collaboration, information, assistance, and/or dealing with problems. It is his responsibility to insure that you receive the veterinary services that are required.
